Service Branches


The fighting forces of Britain are collectively managed under the British Armed Forces banner and encompasses three major branches of service: the Royal Air Force (RAF), the British Army, and the Royal Navy (RN). Britain's land forces were founded in 1660 (the Royal Navy prior to in 1546 and the RAF following in 1918).

NOTES: The aging Duke-class guided-missile frigates are set to be succeeded by the incoming Inspiration-class (Type 31) and City-class (Type 26) warships. Five frigates will make up the Type 31 family and these will feature a crew of 107 with a range out to 7,500nm with a top speed of 26kts. Eight frigates will make up the planned City-class and these will be crewed by 161, have a 7,00nm range, and steam at 26kts in open water.
